Episode 30: Go With Your Gut – A Candid Conversation with XFL’s Anthony Johnson Sr.

Ok so remember when the last podcast episode dropped a year ago and I said I was back?

Well this time Sideline Sass is BACK, for realsies.

And to commemorate this pearl anniversary episode (that’s 30th for all you folks blind to traditions) I decided to honor my new manta for 2020 – the Year of the Power Moves by talking with one of the most powerful guys and guts in the XFL, Seattle Dragons defensive end Anthony Johnson Sr.

Nicknamed “The Gut,” Johnson Sr. hails from Florida International and one of my favorite college football groupings, Conference USA. His journey through football was not an easy one – at one point he found himself on the precipice of packing it all in. But coaches like Butch Davis and Chad Smith gave him a new lease on life.

Johnson Sr. talks with host Emily Van Buskirk about his collegiate football experience, being part of this brand new (kind of) magical league AND gives listeners the low down on his nickname, introducing Sideline Sass fans to “The Gut” brand. Everyone should check out his brand and buy his merch because I said so: https://fanarch.com/collections/anthony-johnson-sr

And of course, the two talk about Johnson’s infamous post-game “beer bath” – if you haven’t’ seen it, check out Twitter and watch the gloriousness.

As always, don’t forget to follow the show on all our social media profiles: @sidelinesasss on Instagram, @sidelinesasss on Twitter and Sideline Sass on Facebook.

Make sure to follow Emily on Twitter and Instagram at @Emilnem and follow Anthony Johnson Sr. on Twitter and Instagram at @TheGut91.
