VIDEO: Oklahoma Quarterback Kyler Murray Becomes 84th Heisman Trophy Award Winner

12/8/18 New York, NY

In a somewhat surprising twist, Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray took home the 2018 Heisman Trophy, finishing first in five of six Hesisman regions which is the first time since 2015 that the winner did not sweep all regions.

Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was the heavy favorite all season-long but a less than stellar first half against Georgia in the SEC Championship game coupled with a high ankle sprain sustained in that same game swayed voters away. Conversely, Murray finished his season strong with a commanding 37-29 victory over Texas in the Big-12 Championship game where Murray threw for 379 yards and three touchdowns. He finished the year with 4,053 yards and 40 touchdowns with only seven interceptions.

Check out what Murray and his head coach Lincoln Riley had to say before and after the ceremony.
