Prior to Thursday night’s matchup between the Weber State Wildcats and the Utah Utes, Sideline Sass’s Emily Van Buskirk caught up with Utezone reporter Michelle Bodkin and broke down the game a little bit. Michelle talked about the excitement surrounding seeing how quarterback Tyler Huntley steps into his leadership role and captains the offense. Unfortunately, the Utes started slow and looked uncertain on offense before finally catching stride in the second half of the game. The Utes turned the ball over four times, something head coach Kyle Whittingham found unacceptable particularly looking ahead to Pac-12 play. But ultimately Utah pulled it out, defeating Weber State 41-10.
Michelle and Emily also discussed the expectations for Utah this season, given the wide-open nature of the Pac-12 South. Michelle noted that there is definitely a more loose, confident air about the team which could point to a Pac-12 Championship game appearance down the road. They just have to get past some tough games, like Washington and USC, both at home and Stanford on the road.
