In the 22nd episode of the podcast the girls discuss their second favorite topic after sports – food. And they bring in the experts to help out.
First guest is professional eater and world champion Joey “Jaws” Chestnut. Joey is coming off his recent world record performance on the July 4th Nathan’s Hotdog Eating Contest where he broke his own record, eating 74 hotdogs. Joey talks about how he go into the weird world of competitive eating, which record he is most proud of out of the many he holds and gives some advice on how to eat faster. He also completes the saltine challenge (eating six saltine crackers in 60 seconds with no water) on camera. And the cherry on top: Joey officiates an eating contest between Kaleigh and Emily. It is a must see video so look for the link on all the Sideline Sass social media (@SidelineSasss).
Joey breaks down the science behind how to eat competitively and talks extensively about his training. He also discusses which contests are his favorite. He also talks about his website where you can read all about his life and buy his famous mustard and Coney sauce. Stay tuned for more of Joey Chestnut in the near future as Sideline Sass will be joining him on some upcoming eating adventures.
Later in the podcast, the girls are joined by long time friend, supporter and former ESPN college football writer Kevin Gemmell. Kevin transitioned recently from football to the food industry – he is now the senior content writer at Chef Works where he gets to interview celebrity chefs, enjoy delicious food and generally love life. Joey hangs around to talk with Kevin about the chef wear that Chef Works sells and possibly designing his own apron. Kevin talks about interviewing female chefs and the difficulties they face in the male-dominated kitchen world. He also breaks down a little Pac-12 football and gives the girls some national predictions for this upcoming season. Make sure you check out Kevin’s work on the blog at the Chef Works website.
