Episode 12: Hall of Fame Votes & Super Bowl Notes – Featuring Baseball Writer & Hall Of Fame Voter Susan Slusser

1/25/18 San Francisco, CA

In the twelfth episode of the podcast, back by popular demand Stanford defensive lineman Jordan Watkins joins the girls in what is shaping up to be a 6th man residency. Known as “Big Fella” by those who love him, Watkins was described by head coach David Shaw as the “consummate teammate.” The Georgia native was part of three Rose Bowls, including the 45-16 routing of Iowa in 2016. He provides insight on every topic the girls throw his way. He is particularly valuable in this episode, as one of his favorite players, Chipper Jones was voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. He also has strong feelings and opinions on the Patriots.

This episode of the podcast is recorded hot on the heels of the announcement of four new players inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. The girls are joined by long time sports writer Susan Slusser, who covers the Oakland Athletics for the San Francisco Chronicle. Slusser was elected as the vice-president of the Baseball Writers’ Associate of America (BBWAA) in 2011 and was voted the president the following year. She is first woman to serve in that role. She talks with the girls about her HOF voting process and offers her insight and thoughts on Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens. She also talks a little bit of A’s and Giants baseball.

The girls and Jordan also discuss the NFL playoffs, the impending Super Bowl and debut the Bold Prediction segment where they fire off some very hot takes about college basketball, the Olympics and the Pro Bowl.
